Description

Color: Brown "Masterpieces of Spanish Architecture", Eugene Clute, ed. with an introduction by John V. Van Pelt (New York: The Pencil Points Press, Inc., 1925), 215 pp. The work is a hardcover volume with a brown spine and the spine label wraps around the spine and onto the front and back covers. The remainder of the covers are a natrual color. On the front, in brown ink, is the title with an inverted triangular design at the center with the series title and number superimposed over a detailed vine and flower design. At the bottom is the subtitle: "ROMANESQUE AND / ALLIED STYLES." On the spine in gold ink is the title, series design, and publisher name. As volume 4 of The Library of Architectural Documents series, this work is a series of plates with brief captions of drawings of both full-views of Spanish structures and many architectural details. These latter include sectional views; images of windows; columns and capitals; friezes; and doors, among others. On the inside front cover is a label reading: "LIBRARY / RANKIN & KELLOGG / ARCHITECTS / PHILADELPHIA." With some scratches and abrasions on the cover; dented spine edges; and very light discoloration, the object is in good condition.
