Color: Black; Green; White; Yellow
A matchbook cover for McHuron's Grill, ca. 1920s. The paper artifact has the name of the restaurant in black at the top of the front. Below this is a drawing of a toad that sticks its head out from inside a potato. Across the potato are the words, "TOAD IN THE HOLE." Below this in black is the address. All of the latter wording as well as the image are on a yellow background with a green border. Across the bottom of the front is, "SAFETY FIRST / CLOSE COVER BEFORE / STRIKING MATCH." The same design is on the back except that the name of the restaurant is above and below the toad illustration. Across the bottom of the back is, "LION MATCH NEW YORK." The match striker is also on the bottom of the back. The establishment's phone number, "Hempstead 3568" is in black across the top. At the top of the inside it reads, "HAVE YOU EVER TRIED / THAT / FAMOUS DISH / 'TOAD IN THE HOLE' / YES / WE CATER TO / BANQUETS, PICNICS / AND / STUDIO LOCATIONS." With only light abrasions and folds, the object is in good condition.
