Description

MAUSOLEUM INTERIOR FRIEZE RESTORATION, NORTHEAST CORNER Color: Blue; Gray A color polaroid photograph of the northeast corner of the mausoleum interior and the restoration of the frieze, 29 March 1979. Much of the visible part of the frieze on the north side, at left, has a bright white appearance, suggesting water damage to the plaster, while the east side at center and right has a brownish tint to it. Toward the top is the ceiling and the decorative border strip has discoloration toward the upper left. At the bottom of the photograph is one crypt, at left, while the marble face, part of the east window, and a handle of a wicker basket are at the lower right. Part of a wooden ladder is just left of the lower center. On the reverse, in dark ink, is the inscription: "Temple Mausoleum / interior view / N. E. corner - cornice / progress during restor- / ation of frieze by / DN Graphics / photo by archt. 3/29/79." Below this is a stamp of restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and phone number. Over this is a piece of tape. With no indication of notable wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
