Description

POSTERS, MERCURY AIR LINES PASSENGER SERVICE, ca. 1921. The poster explains that a single passenger would be allowed on mail planes starting in November. Mercury Aviation Corporation was founded by film producer Cecil B. deMille in 1919 and was possibly the first passenger airline in the world, certainly in Los Angeles. Passenger service was initiated on a regular basis in May 1921, hence the estimated date. The condition is fair with stains and edge tears.
