"Merry Christmas in the Tenements," by Jacob A. Riis from the Christmas Number, "The Century Magazine," December 1897 (Vol. LV., No. 2.) The 20-page article is by the famed chronicler of conditions in the poorest areas of New York City and discusses Christmas in these places. There are many images of persons and locales in the city with holiday themes. There is also a short piece on religious art with three illustrations. As disbound with loose pages with a stain or two, very light soiling and some creases, the condition is good.
