"Merry Christmas Stories" (Chicago: Albert Whitman & Company, 1926), 128 pp. A hardcover book (a) with dustjacket (b) of fourteen Christmas stories. The dustjacket has a dark blue background with white snowflakes, over which is an image of Santa Claus riding through the air on a sleigh loaded with a sack full of gifts and holly-decorated garland. The title is just above the image and the statement "Edited and Pictured by / JUST RIGHT AUTHORS and ARTISTS" is below. On the back cover is a continuation of the front cover image with the eight reindeer pulling the sleigh, while a snow-covered church, houses and trees are below. Under this part of the image is the name of the series "JUST RIGHT BOOKS" and the publisher's name and city of business. The front of the book is largely the same as the jacket, but with part of the Santa Claus image on paper pasted to the cover. On the copyright page is an acknowledgement of the authors and artists who worked on the book, though Milo Winter, who designed the cover is given a byline on the title page. Heading the book is a reproduction of Clement C. Moore's "'Twas the Night Before Christmas." There are many color and black-line illustrations in the work, as well. The book is in good condition with little indication of wear and damage, though the cover has many creases and a few small tears.Lexicon
