Description

Color: Blue; Yellow; Red A noisemaker, patented 27 November 1928, and manufactured by Kirchhof of Newark, New Jersey. The item consists of a metal box painted blue and yellow with an image of a girl with bobbed hair holding what appear to be flowers, while a man, wearing a jester's outfit looks toward her. Above this is an opening in the cover and a red handle extends perpendicularly from the box. This handle is attached to a gear, so that when the handle is turned, the gear turns and a black piece of metal inside the box grinds against the gear, making the hoise. An opening on the bottom of the box also allows the sound to emanate from the artifact. On one of two sides is the patent date and number, the latter of which is stamped onto the bottom, along with the manufacturer's name. This latter is also on one side, along with the name of "Newark, N. J." With surface scratches, a dent across the bottom, and remains of an adhesive on the bottom, the artifact is in good overall condition.
