A piece of a metal lid, believed to be a cover for the glass viewing plate of a coffin, ca. 1870, unearthed during the digging of the crypt for Nellie D. Temple, April 1998. The lid is rectangular, has a curved end, and has a piece of hardware toward the end consisting of a screw, washer and metal plate with a decorative pattern on one side. Item 4.1 is another piece of the lid, which is missing one small piece to make a complete lid. There are several areas of encrusted dirt and other organic materials. With pervasive rust and pitting, the object is in poor condition.
