A piece of a metal lid, believed to be a cover for the glass viewing plate of a coffin, ca. 1870, unearthed during the digging of the crypt for Nellie D. Temple, April 1998. The lid is rectangular, has a curved end, contains a bracket at one end for attachment to another part of the coffin and has a piece of badly rusted metal hardware, like a bolt or screw, on one side. Item 4.2 is another piece of the lid, which is missing one small piece to make a complete lid. There are also several encrusted sections of dirt and other organic materials on the piece. With pervasive rust and pitting, the object is in poor condition.
