Description

A cabinet card photograph of the Mission Carmel, Johnson, ca. 1890s. The view is from the northeast and looks upon the near-ruins of the structure with its larger domed tower at the left and smaller domeless one to the right of the main entrnace. The ruins of the adobe building are at the right and a wall portion in the background left, while light streams through the interior of the church, the rear of which is crumbling and the roof of which is in tatters. With some rippling near where the photo was pasted down on paper, the condition is good overall.
