"Mission Memories" by John Steven McGroarty (Los Angeles: Neuner Corporation, 1929), 60 pp. A hardcover book (a) with dustjacket (b) about the California Missions. A general introduction is followed by brief descriptions of each of the 21 missions. There are 22 illustrations by Frederick V. Carpenter. One of these is a postcard size color drawing of one of the missions next to the title page. The front cover of the jacket has the same image seen in the color insert mentioned above with Carpenter's signature at the bottom right. The book title is at the top and author's name at the bottom. The book is in good shape with minor discoloration. The jacket is in poor condition with only the front and back covers extant and the top of the front cover nearly torn off. There is also wear and tears on the edges of both covers. The book, another copy of which is 93.4.1, was purchased from Claremont Books and Prints. The signature "Art Roberts" is in pencil on the front jacket flap.Lexicon
