Description

Postcard: A color postcard of the Mission Play Theater garden in San Gabriel, ca. 1920s. The image shown is apparently an arbor, with a wooden projection at top, with a profusion of vines above this and at the left and right margins of the card. To lower left is a path bordered by small rocks. At center and right is what appears to be a series of scale models of some of the California missions. There is a landscape mural shown behind the models. The theater, now the San Gabriel Civic Auditorium, was completed in 1927 with Walter P. Temple one of the main individual donors. The unused card has two publishers credits: one from M. Kashower Company and the other from Van Ornum Colorprint Company, both of Los Angeles. Purchased from Mark Kittinger and in good condition with edge discoloration and corner wear. None
