Description

Color: Blue; Green; Red; White; Yellow A colored photo postcard of Mission San Juan Bautista, ca. 1920s. The view is from a large grass area and shows the mission complex within an oval. The church with a bell tower is at the far right and a long set of buildings is to the left with an arched portico in the front. The roof is red tiled and there are trees as well as the grass near the complex, which was a fairly recent restoration. At the bottom is the caption "San Juan Bautista Mission, San Juan, Cal. 'Founded 1797.'" On the reverse of the unused card is a space at the left for a message and at the right for an address. At the upper left is the publisher's logo and its name and place of business is at the left edge, along with a notation that the card was made in Germany. At the upper right is a box for the stamp, while at the bottom left corner is the note "Art Series No. 67." With browning, some surface soiling, dented corners, and a tear at the right edge of the front, the overall condition is fair.
