Description

MISSION WALKWAY AND WORKMAN HOUSE LOOKING EAST Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the Mission Walkway and the Workman House looking east, ca. 1920s. At the bottom right is part of the wall, two arches, and a round pillar of the walkway. Lining the walk are many plants, and at the top of it is a wood trellis with several bare grape-vines scattered throughout. Behind the walkway are the tops of several pomegranate trees, and behind this is the west side of the Workman House. Only the shingled pitched-roof, chimney, and parts of the home's wall are viewable through the trees. At the left of the foreground are two palms, and at the top right the wood balcony of the Master Bedroom, though they appear dark due to the sunlight that hits the lens. Stamped at the top of the back is the word, "VELOX." At the left of the bottom is the number, "4." The photograph was housed in Agnes Temple's album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With some warping and stains due to water damage, the artifact is in poor condition. Number-Units: 1
