Description

MISSION WALKWAY, EAST SIDE, FROM THE SOUTHWEST, CA. 1928 Color: Black; White A negative of the Mission Walkway, east side, from the southwest, ca. 1928. The photographer appears to have stood on the flagstone walk leading from La Casa Nueva toward the archway at the southeast corner of the Mission Walkway. Much of the east side of the Walkway is in the image and there is much growth from grapevines planted next to the columns inside the wall, rather than outside as is the case today. Three adobe planters with bushes or shrubs in them are on the lawn and the bottom of the historic San Gabriel palm tree is at center with a smaller palm tree behind the Walkway wall. With non-intrusive darkening on the top and bottom edges the only evidence of wear or damage, the artifact's condition is good. Number-Units: 1
