Description

MISSION WALKWAY, LA CASA NUEVA, AND WATER TOWER FROM THE SOUTHWEST Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of the Mission Walkway, La Casa Nueva, and Water Tower from the southwest, ca. 1926. The west wall of the walkway is at the left of center, with the south wall at the right. The wall has arches and is lined at the top with tile. La Casa Nueva, which was under construction, is at the left behind the walkway. Although it has such architectural elements as the tile roof and chimney, the windows had yet to be added and the walls are unplastered. The west patio has unplastered portico columns. The Water Tower is at the far right of the background with a flag pole at the top, the third floor tank area, and the second floor's west facade clearly visible. Across the foreground and at the front of the walkway walls, are many trees, including pines, with part of Evergreen Lane at the bottom right corner. Written in blue pencil on the top left corner of the back is, "RALPH & CAROL TEMPLE COLLECTION / SOUTHWEST CORNER - LCN." There are two of the same image in the accession with the negatives being items .2.1-.10. Both artifacs are in good condition with no signs of wear or damage. Number-Units: 2
