Description

MISSION WALKWAY, SOUTH SIDE, LOOKING EAST, CA. 1941-42 Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the south side of the Mission Walkway, looking east, ca. 1941 or 1942. Taken from the walkway, next to the main wall, the support columns are at the left; main wall on the right; and wooden support or trellis at the upper center with grape vines growing on it. Between the main wall and floor and around the columns are varieties of shrubs and bushes, including ferns and either agapanthus or other lilies. At the back, faintly seen, is the gate at the southeastern corner of the walkway, leading out toward the Water Tower and auditorium. On the reverse lower left corner, in the hand of a former museum curator, is the penciled inscription "ca 41-42", while the number "542" is stamped at the bottom edge, just right of center. With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
