MISSION WALKWAY, SOUTH SIDE, LOOKING WEST, CA. 1941-42
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of the south side of the Mission Walkway, looking west, ca. 1941 or 1942. Taken from the walkway, next to a column, the main wall is at the left; support columns on the right; and wooden support or trellis at the upper center with grape vines growing on it. Between the main wall and floor and around the columns are varieties of shrubs and bushes, quite tall ones on the far left and smaller ones farther back on both sides. Along the main wall, under an arch, is a wooden wagon wheel, while a bench is about two arches further back from the wheel. On the reverse lower left corner, in the hand of a former museum curator, is the penciled inscription "ca 41-42", while the number "542" is stamped at the bottom edge, just right of center. With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition.
