Description

MISSION WALKWAY, SOUTHEAST ARCHWAY, LOOKING TOWARD LA CASA NUEVA, CA. 1927 Color: Black; White A negative of the southeast arched entrance to the Mission Walkway, looking toward La Casa Nueva, ca. 1927. The photographer stood on the outside of the arch and the Mission Walkway appears completed, though the grape vines appear to be new and do not cover much of the trellis. Also, there are unstuccoed elements to the low walls at either end. In the background are portions of La Casa Nueva, which also seems largely finished, although it is uncertain if the fountain was completed and the flagstone walkway leading from the arch to the house does not seem to be present. A person stands in the west portico of the courtyard. With a small loss at the left edge and some browning and what may be adhesive tape at the right edge, both partially, but slightly, affecting the image, the artifact is in good condition.
