Description

Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of the Mission Walkway's southeast gate looking towards La Casa Nueva, ca. 1920s, taken in 1995. The wood gate is at the right of the bottom and has finials across the top and middle. At the right of the gate is a wood bench. The arch above the gate is lined with clay tiles. Part of the walkway's south and east arched walls are at the far left and right through many trees and palms. A rectangular pillar is at the far right as well as part of the unpaved center drive. Visible in the background behind the walkway is part of La Casa Nueva. Only the top of the west and east patios and a portion of the east archway to the courtyard are discernible. Written in blue pencil on the top left corner of the back is, "Ralph / Carol Temple Collection / May 1995 / Southeast gate into Mission Walkway." Contact sheets for the image are items .35-37 with the negatives being items .2.1-.17. The artifact has no visible signs of damage or wear and is therefore in good condition. Number-Units: 1
