Description
MISSION WALKWAY WEST SIDE AND LA CASA NUEVA UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of the west side of the Mission Walkway and La Casa Nueva under construction, ca. 1924, by Albert J. Kopec. Standing on a path in the field to the northwest of the building site, Kopec photographed the northern end of the walkway, which is at center and right. The main wall is largely complete, though the end of the last arch is unfinished. The support boards for the grape vines, which are planted next to the main wall, are also mostly in place. To the left is the southern wing of the west side of La Casa Nueva with the roughly plastered adobe walls and adobe columns for the second floor patio visible. Wood scaffolding is placed next to the wall of the home. Next to La Casa Nueva in the background is a tall pole, possibly for electrical power. In the far right foreground is a plant in the field next to the photographer, probably a young walnut tree. On the reverse upper portion is a stamp reading "Kopec / L.A." With some small stains, but otherwise little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
