Description

Model of new aircraft. Los Angeles, CA. 9 September 1929. In the foreground is a model of a new aircraft, created by John Hodgedon, that uses both heavier-than-air and lighter-than-air machines. The bottom is an airplane (heavier-than-air) with a blimp (lighter-than-air) attached to the top. The plane consists of a single wing atop the fuselage and three motors, one on the front and one on each side of the wing. The blimp is attached to the plane in three spots and has a single motor and propeller in the nose. Behind this model is a full size biplane of the time. There are three men kneeling by the plane, all looking at the photographer, and one man standing, looking at the plane. There is a bit of information typed an attached to the back of the photo, which would have been used by newspapers. This object is in good condition overall.
