Description

Color: Black; Brown "Information and Telephone Guide to Monterey Park, Ramona Park, and Wilmar," October 1926. The 26-page directory has a brown paper cover with the title in a dark black-bordered box at the center, surrounded by advertisements from local businesses, including morticians F. A. Utter & Son, whose Alhambra business was in a building constructed by Walter P. Temple. More advertisements are inside the front cover, while the first numbered page, page three, has emergency phone numbers for the police and fire departments of Monterey Park, San Gabriel, and Alhambra, the Alhambra hospital and ambulance services from three funeral parlors. There are also blank lines for frequently called numbers. More ads surround these areas, as well. Pages 4-16 are for listings in Monterey Park, including addresses and three or four-digit phone numbers. These are followed by Ramona Park numbers on pages 17-22 and those for Wilmar from pages 22-26. The back cover and inside back cover have more advertisements. With slight discoloration on the cover and some pages; cover edge wear; and creases on some pages, especially page 17, the artifact is in good condition.
