Description

Color: Gray, black and white "Montreal in Halftone" by W. H. Drummond (Grand Rapids: The James Bayne Company), ca. 1905. A paperback souvenir book, with the name "Montreal" at the top right of the front cover and an image of a man skiing with snow and pine (or other evergreen) trees in the image at the left. The pictorial book has over 100 black and white and color half-tone images and some text in caption form, as well as a two-page introduction by Drummond. Among well-known landmarks pictured are St. James Cathedral; Notre Dame Church; the harbor; Royla Victoria Hospital; Mount Royal; and the Windsor Hotel (where the Temple sons stayed in 1927 and 1928.) Because of an erection date on one photograph and the presence of horse-drawn conveyances instead of automobile on others, the estimated date is 1905. The book is bound with a gray-colored rope tying the work together through the two-hole punched pages. With some discoloration and a few small creases on the cover, the book is in good condition.
