2007.264.1.1Description
"Mud House or Dobe, Los Angeles," unattributed, ca. 1880s. The cabinet-sized photo mounted onto a matte shows a one-story, plastered structure with a slightly pitched wooden roof and an open entry area at the center. The building does not appear to have been occupied. Surrounding it is some landscaping, including a variety of trees and some shrubs, but most of the area in front of the dwelling is dirt, probably including part of a street. Portions of structures are visible around the home. On the reverse is the title in ink. With stains, soiling, a small piece missing at the lower right, and edge wear to the matter, the condition overall is good.Lexicon
