Description

Color: Blue; Gold "My Seventy Years in California," by Jackson A. Graves (Third printing, Los Angeles: The Times-Mirror Press,) 1929. The hardcover book is 478 pages and has a blue cover and gold lettering. On the front is the title and author's name with these joined, on the spine, by the publisher's name. The autobiography by the president of Farmers and Merchants Bank of Los Angeles details his life in California from his birth in Marysville and, from 1875, in Los Angeles. Fifty-seven chapters make up the work, including material on his law training in San Francisco, his move to Los Angeles, his work in the failure of the Temple and Workman bank, recollections of Los Angeles life and professional aspects, and, at the end, comments on the progress of Los Angeles. There are some photographic illustrations and an index to the work, which is in good condition with spine and cover rubbing; corner dents; light surface soiling on the cover; minor page yellowing; fading of spine lettering; and light cover stains.
