Description

"National Intelligencer," Vol. XXVi, No. 3374, published by Gales and Seaton, Washington, D. C., 9 July 1825. Among its coverage of national news, the item has, on page four, a short article titled "SANTA FE ADVENTURERS" reprinting a 16 May 1825 letter from near Fort Osage by an unidentified person about a trading caravan on the Santa Fe Trail from Franklin, Missouri to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Among the 105 persons said to be on the trip was William Workman, who checked into the Santa Fe customs house in July. With foxing, soiling, edge tears, fading, and stains, the overall condition is poor.
