Color: Black; White
A strip negative with six images of Boyle Heights related images. Exposure 31 is of the Cummings Block, an early commercial structure at First Street and Boyle Avenue, shown probably just after its completion in 1889. Exposures 28-30 are of the interior of the Los Angeles Cable Railway Company power plant on First Street near Chicago Street, furnished and decorated for a party celebrating the first arrival of the company's cable car. Exposures 26-27 shows this same car arriving in Boyle Heights under a banner heralding the car's journey. Bystanders approach or stand near the car as it approaches the banner. Of note are the cartoons on the banner. Exposures 26 and 31 were printed and are item numbers 1.23, 1.28 from this accession. As a newly-made artifact, the strip is in mint condition.
