Description

NEGATIVE STRIP OF PHOTOS OF NANCY, WILLIAM H. AND ELIJAH H. WORKMAN Color: Black; White A strip negative with six images of Nancy Hook Workman and her sons Elijah H. and William H. Exposures 25 is of Mrs. Workman from a studio daguerreotype, ca. 1855 and she wears a black dress with a white collar and a hair net or other headdress. Part of the ornamented oval lining for the leather case is visible around the image. Exposures 22-24 are of Elijah, also from ca. 1855, and show him seated and in a suit, with his left arm resting against a table. The lining frame is a rounded square. Exposures 20-21 are of William H., also from ca. 1855, and showing him dressed in a three-piece suit and tie and seated. Part of the oval frame is visible around the image. Because of glare from the original daguerreotypes, none of the exposures were printed for this accession. As a newly-made artifact, the strip is in mint condition. Number-Units: 1
