Description

Color: Brown; Gold "New Building Estimators' Handbook," (New York: Scientific Book Corporation, 1930), 1023 pp. The book has a brown hardcover with the title and author's name on the top in gold surrounded by a double-line border. This information is also on the top of the spine with the publisher's name on the bottom. On the first and last flyleaf is the name and address of J. Clay Hargis written in blue ink. At the beginning is a preface; a table of contents; and an introduction. Meant as a handbook for architects, builders, and contractors, among others, the artifact contains many chapters on such subjects as building measurements; excavation work; concrete work; brick and stone work; structural steel and iron; plaster; glass; roofing; plumbing; painting; heating; tiling; electrical work; asbestos; farm buildings; and municipal work. At the back are many tables of weights and measurements as well as an index and a supplementary index. Some black and white illustrations and photographs are also included. With fading of the gold lettering on the spine; abrasions; stains along the page edges; and small tears on the cover fabric, the object is in overall good condition.
