Description

Color: Black; White A black and white postcard of Los Angeles City Hall, ca. 1928. The 28-story concrete structure is at the center and has a pyramid-like apex at the top. Many rows of windows are at the sides and at the bottom left is the entrance from Main Street. The entrance has two statues, five arches, columns, steps, and a plaster design across the top. The building also has other architectural elements such as moulds, arched windows, borders, and more. Many people walk on a sidewalk at the left and right. Across the bottom is, "NEW LOS ANGELES CITY HALL / John C. Austin, Albert C. Martin, John Parkinson / Associate Architects / C. J. Kubach Co., General Contractors." On the top of the back is the word "POST CARD," and a square box for postage. On the bottom left is information about the building, including the cost, height, and the names of members on the Board of Public Works, which supervised the construction. With only light abrasions at the corners and a crease at the bottom right corner, the object is in good condition.
