Description

NEWEL POST, LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD STAIRS, BEFORE RESTORATION Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph of the newel post from the stairs of the courtyard of La Casa Nueva before restoration, ca. January 1979. The view is from the bottom of the stairs and focused on the top of the post where the ball and circular base are missing, while the rest of the post, as well as the visible portion of the stair rail are in place. Item .842 shows the replacement ball and base when that work was done on 30 January 1979. To the left can be seen some of the tiles on the stair risers, while at right, though shadowed because of the dim lighting conditions is part of one of the supporting arches for the balcony above. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
