Description
A cabinet card photograph of nine children and an adult at the back of a Los Angeles school, J. S. Nelson. The image shows the plain clapboard structure with a center door and stair and two small flanking windows. Standing by the stairs and off to the right are the adult, presumably the teacher, and the children who appear to range from five to twelve years old. There appears to be a wash basin next to the door and the fenced lot has no landscaping except for one or two trees in the foreground. On the reverse is Nelson's stamp with his address and the ink inscription: "Ocktober [sic] 1904 / back yard of school." With fading, some soiling and edge rubbing, the overall condition is good.
