Description
NORTH END OF THE LOS ANGELES PLAZA CHURCH, CA. 1890s
Color: Black; White
A reproduced black and white photograph of the north side of the Los Angeles Plaza Church, ca. 1890s. The photographer stood on the east side of Main Street looking across to the west. Most of the front facade of the edifice is at the far left, though the faded condition of the original precludes a clear view. The north elevation of the building and the adjacent rectory are at the center and right, fronted by a courtyard, which is divided from the sidewalk by a low wall and wooden gate. Two power poles stand just left of center on the sidewalk. A pedestrian at center and a horse-drawn carriage at left are on the street, blurry because of their motion. The street in the foreground is partially paved with stone and a street railway track is in the roadbed, as well. In the background is part of Fort Moore (or Poundcake or Bunker) Hill and a couple of houses are discernible on top. As a newly reproduced photograph, the object is in mint condition.
