Description

NORTH END OF THE WEST LAWN OF LA CASA NUEVA DURING CONSTRUCTION Color: Black; White A photograph of the north end of the West Lawn of La Casa Nueva during construction, probably 8 November 1925. The view is looking northeast from where the West Lawn probably ends at the Mission Walkway. A small portion of the northwest corner of La Casa Nueva with wood scaffolding near it is at the far right, and the west end of the front patio wall is also visible. At left running across the photo horizontally is the front enclosure wall and the entrance gate leading toward the house. A palm tree is at this section, as well. The area around the house is largely bare dirt, except for some weed patches and lengths of pipe and wood. In the background is Puente Hill, just above the town of Puente. On the upper left of the reverse is the penciled note "Front Wall," and the number "48" is stamped in that corner. Preprinted at several locations on the reverse is the brand name "VELOX" referring to Kodak paper. With some light discoloration and surface soiling and a stain at the upper left of the image, the overall condition is good. Number-Units: 1
