Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of the north side of the original pump house, ca. 1977. The photographer, Al Sylvanus, stood on the newly graded area for the Pio Pico Mission Walkway, which is in the foreground. The pump house was constructed from wood, horizontally placed boards and had a peaked shingled roof, with a small dormer, projecting out of the southern side of the roof. A window with two doors, containing three glass panels in each, is in the middle of the south wall. To the right at the rear of the structure are some low bushes, perhaps lilies with a hedge behind them, followed by banana palms. Much of the background consists of the large oak trees growing in and around the Workman House courtyard. A small, unidentifiable tree is just to the left of the pump house. On the reverse is the following inscription in black ink "Pump House / South elev. / taken before 1977 (ca. late 1976) / by Architect's office* (Before restoration) / negative on file at: *ALFRED / Sylvanus / assoc. w.R.G. / (deceased)." Below this is the stamp for restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his address and phone number. Toward the left center is the stamped date "NOV 14 1981." With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition.
