Description

NORTHWEST END OF LA CASA NJEVA COURTYARD FROM THE SOUTHEAST Color: Black; White A photograph of the northwest end of the courtyard of La Casa Nueva from the southeast, ca. 1932. At the center is most of the fountain with gourds, sea shells, a vase, and a metate and grindstone on the larger or lower millstone. At left are a portion of the portico on the east side of the courtyard and above, on the second floor, a section of the recently-completed dormitory enclosing the patio. In the background is much of the north portico with its arches and, above on the second floor, most of the balcony area. At the right are some of the protruding beam ends for the east portico. Behind the fountain are some plantings, mainly bushes and shrubs. The photograph has a crinkled edge and there is a rectangular piece with two holes for mounting into a paper album, which is item 49.2. In good condition overall, the item has only minor reverse discoloration and paper bowing. Number-Units: 1
