A real photo postcard of a fire crew at the Occidental Hotel fire, Los Angeles, 13 March 1917. The photographer stood on the street and there are many firefighters on site with at least two vehicles with steam engines for fighting fires. Many firehoses lie in the street. At left are two commercial structures and a caption at the bottom reads "Occidental Hotel Los Angeles 1917." Another inscription on the reverse indicates an "x" on the photo and notes, "Hair store where the fire started." There is also the date of 13 March and the phrase "B[roa]dw[a]y side." On that date, there was a fire at the hotel that caused $125,000 in damage. With minor soiling and edge abrasion, the overall condition is good.
