Description

"OFFICIAL PROGRAMME, LOS ANGELES NATIONAL SPEED CLASSIC," MARCH 6, 1927 Color: Black; Orange; White "Official Programme, Los Angeles National Speed Classic," 6 March 1927. The item has an Art Deco-like front cover with a winged figure holding an orange ball with "SPEED" on it within a wreath-bordered field. Below is a driver in an orange-colored racecar with the number "8" on the back. At the bottom in a classic-style pedestal is the name of the race, the company holding the event, the sanction number, and the date. The price is at the top. Prize amounts are at the bottom of the first page and other contents include a speed chart, the names of previous winners of the race, race officials, names of medical personnel, names of racers, a scorecard with delineations at the marks of 100, 150, 200, and the finish at 250 miles, and the top five finishers' numbers written in ink there, photos of the entrants, photos of the two sponsors, the program of the musical performance by a band, and many advertisements from automotive-related companies. With heavy rubbing, residue of adhesives on the cover, brittleness, creases, heavy soiling, yellowing, folds, especially at corners, foxing, looseness of the cover, losses at the back cover edge and the right side of the front, pest damage along the top, stains, especially on the cover, staple tarnish, and tears, the condition is poor overall.
