Description

OIL WELL BIT ATTACHMENT, SANTA FE SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA Color: Black; White A black and white lantern slide of a oil well bit being attached, Santa Fe Springs, California, manufactured by the Keystone View Company, 1920s. The view shows a workman guiding the fish-tail bit into the well's drill collar, while another worker stands nearby, perhaps working the pulley that lowers the bit. Other sections of the mechanical apparatus for the well are also in view. At the left is the Keystone name and the location of its Meadville studio, while the caption is on white paper at the right, including the identification numbers "12" and "29257" and the caption "Fish-tail bit attached / to drill collar, Santa Fe Springs / Calif." At the upper left is a taped on number "5079-12." With some rubbing to the corners of the black paper border; adhesive on the number referred to on the upper left; surface soiling; discoloration of the tape where the last number is; and some fingerprint stains, the overall condition is good. Number-Units: 1
