Description

OLIVE TREE AVENUE, DOMINICAN COLLEGE, 1915. The postcard shows Olive Tree Avenue at Dominican College in San Rafael, California. Tall trees line the avenue on both sides with wooden benches placed against some of the tree trunks and one directly in the middle of the path. There are concrete steps with two small pillars flanking the steps at the bottom. On top of the right pillar is a concrete vase, perhaps for flowers or decorative purposes. The reverse side has space for correspondence and an address. Toward the bottom right-hand corner is the name BRITTON & REY lithographers in San Francisco publishers of pictorial postcards. On the top right corner is space for a postage stamp, in which it states the price for a domestic stamp is one cent and two cents for a foreign stamp. The postcard is in good condition despite the abrasion damage, surface soiling, discoloration as well as stains.
