Description

A cabinet card photograph of Orange Grove Avenue, Pasadena, by Hill, ca. 1900. The view is from one side of the wide unpaved street and looks toward an enormous widespread oak tree which sits in the middle of the thoroughfare. At the left, partially obscured by the tree is a large home with a large lot and it is presumed these are the estate properties on the north-south section of the road. This is also assumed because a section of mountains can be discerned at the far right. Hill's name and city of business are in white at the lower left and the photo is pasted onto board with a stamp at the lower right corner reading "Cities: P." In pencil at the bottom margin is "Orange Grove Ave. Pasadena." With corner chipping and soiling to the matte, the condition is good overall.
