Description

"ORANGE GROVES AND OLD MT. BALDY, SAN GABRIEL VALLEY, CALIFORNIA" Color: Black; White A postally unused real photo postcard titled "Orange Groves and Old Mt. Baldy, San Gabriel Valley, California," 1920s. Photo by Bob Plunkett. The aerial view appears to be taken in the Arcadia/Monrovia area looking northeastward toward San Gabriel Canyon, which is in the background center, and snow-covered Mt. Baldy. The lower ranges of the San Gabriel Mountains are in the background, as well. Most of the valley is dotted with citrus groves with homes and other buildings interspersed. Occasionally settlements are noted, as well, but the scene is dominated by agriculture. The title is divided at the bottom and the photographer's name, Bob Plunkett, is at the lower right. On the back is the word "POST CARD" at the top, a stamp box at the upper right, the publisher's name as a divider, and the terms "CORRESPONDENCE" on the left and "ADDRESS" on the right. With corner rubbing, light soiling, slight yellowing, small stains at the back, and small tears at the top right corner, the condition of the artifact is good.
