Color: Brown; Green; Orange; White
A postcard, "Orange Packing in California," published by Edward H. Mitchell, San Francisco, ca. 1913. The image is a colored rendering of a photograph showing the interior of a packing house. Large rows with boxes full of oranges loaded by conveyor belt are at the left and right. At the left set are a row of a dozen or more women, each behind a small stands in which there is a box and white paper, in which the fruit is packed. A few men stand in the aisle between the two rows and there are some men in the background. A few stands with boxes on them, some empty boxes in the foreground left and the ceiling, building supports, pulleys, and other items are also of note. The title and postcard number "979" are at the bottom center in red lettering. On the back are spaces for a message, address, and stamp. The postally used card has a message, address, one cent stamp, and cancellation stamp. The publisher's name and city of business are at the bottom left. With corner abrasions and slight losses, some discoloration, and stains at the lower center of the back, the overall condition is good.Lexicon
