Description
ORIGINAL AND REPLICATED CAT'S HEADS FOR LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD BALCONY
Color: Brown
A copy of a color polaroid photograph with the original and two replications of the cat's head from the La Casa Nueva Courtyard balcony, 27 November 1978. All three items rest on the top of a wood work table that sits against the east wall of the house's kitchen. At right is the original beam end, painted and weathered a dark brown. The cat's head is missing the ears and the wood is cracked, probably from dry rot, though termite damage does not appear to have been present. To the left are the two reproductions, supported by a block of wood. The figures are completely carved, but not painted. A few tools on the table, including a plane and pliers at the lower part of the image. On the reverse is an inscription in black ink reading "Temple Mansion / Wood carving reproductions / (left) and original (right) / at south patio balcony / photo by archt. 11-27-78." Below this, covered by tape, is a stamp for restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and telephone number. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
