Color: Black; White
A black and white reproduction photograph of the original basement door in the La Casa Nueva Courtyard, ca. 1927. The photographer stood just to the right of the door, which is almost completely within the image, except for the bottom right corner. The door appeared to be newly finished with its dark wood square panels in rows of five and sets of four conchas arranged in different patterns on each panel. At the center right, an iron ring handle is in the center of a panel and a clasp is at the side, attached to the frame. Other features, include a small portion of the door to the Library, at far left, a few pices of tile at the baseboard, lower left, a corner of a plaque hung above the door at the top, and a table or cart with some unidentifiable materials in it at the lower right. At this cart is a washed-out area that appears to have been in the original photograph. This copy was found in the Water Tower closet by a museum staff person in 1990, but has several inscriptions on it on the reverse from the site restoration. At the upper left, in pencil, is "Temple Mansion / Exterior Door / Copied Photo / R-10." At the upper right, in pencil, is "Panles 6" x 6 1/4" / Make Large Conchos 2 7/8"x 2 7/8." At the center, in pencil, is "43 large / 84 medium / 76 small / 203 [total]." Next to this is a stamp in black ink reading "RECEIVED / FEB 15 1979 / . . ." with a stamp for restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and telephone number. There are some major creases, pin holes at the top, one tear at the right, and stains on the artifact, which is in fair condition.
