ORIGINAL GATE FINIAL AND REPLICATION MOLD CAST
Color: Brown
A copy of a color polaroid photograph of an original gate finial and reproduction cast mold, 28 December 1978. The two pieces rest on a plain wood table with a piece of wood as a backing. The location may be the work table in the La Casa Nueva Kitchen, where the wood carving for the site restoration took place, but this cannot be discerned from the image. The original finial is at left, badly worn and discolored from exposure. At right is a piece of wood with the casting mold for the reproduction finials showing the impression of the finial. This is almost a gray colored item with three round indentations around the finial mold. On the reverse in black ink is the inscription "Temple Mansion / detail of existing gate / wood finial (on left) / and casting mold (on / right) for reproductions / photo by archt. 12/28/78." Below this, covered by tape, is a stamp for restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and telephone number. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
