Description

ORIGINAL NORTH WINDOW, LA CASA NUEVA MASTER BEDROOM Color: Color A color photograph of the original north side window from La Casa Nueva's Master Bedroom, ca. 1979. The close-up shows the six panels, but none of the wood in the door, which is in shadow. At top left is an image of a guardian angel with a yellow garment and wings, framed in a box with a banner beneath with the words "The Guardian Angel." At top right is the coat-of-arms with the Mexican eagle and snake in a shield, surmounted by a crown with a cross at the apex. Beneath is a banner, but no wording in it. The middle left panel shows a six-horse drawn Conestoga wagon with a few persons seated at the front and a man walking beside with a gun slung over his shoulder. A campfire scene with several wagons and pioneers is at the middle right. A woman cooking, man carving with a knife, and children playing are gathered around a fire. A similar coat-of-arms to that before mentioned is at lower left, except the crown is replaced by an eage and the banner beneath reads "Mexico"--this is the republican coat-of-arms, as opposed to the aforementioned royal one. At bottom right is the Spanish coat-of-arms with two panels showing a lion at left and castle at right within an oval border. At the top is a crown, but more rounded than the top right panel's crown, and the banner beneath is blank. There are a few creases and an area two of small stains on the back, but the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
