Description

P. H. DYSTE AND UNIDENTFIED MAN AT FRONT OF MAUSOLEUM Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of P. H. Dyste and an unidentified man standing at the front of the mausoleum in El Campo Santo, 1940. Dyste is on the right, wearing a dark suit, white shirt and tie and has a flower or some other item in his lapel and a handkerchief in his breast pocket. The other man wears a dark suit, with the jacket unbuttoned, a white shirt, and striped tie. Both men have dark shoes. The west or entrance facade to the mausoleum is in full view and the building seems to be in good condition. Covering the sides of the front, behind a boxwood hedge are large bushes. The photographer stood on the sidewalk leading from the cemetery entrance and other walks lead to the left and right. Flanking the walks in the foreground are sections of grass lawns. In the background are several palm trees, planted by the Temple family in the 1920s. On the reverse upper left corner is a black ink inscription "1940 [symbol for make] right is P. H. Dyste." Aside from minor surface soiling on the lower right of the reverse, the artifact shows little indication of wear or damage and is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
