A painting (a) in color of a young Walter Temple Sr. and a wooden backing (b) , ca. 1872. Walter Temple Sr. (1869-1938) appears to be around 3 to 4 years of age. Walter wears a collared shirt, a buttoned suit, and buttoned up leather black shoes. His hair is parted to the left. He stands on a small, green upholstered chaise lounge chair as he rests his arm and hands on a book. The book is on top of a marble table. In the background toward the left is a decorative table top piece and a curtain that is gathered to the side and draped over the marble table. The painting is adhered to a glass that is broken. The reverse side of the painting has a linen, canvas backing that is heavily soiled. There is also a wooden piece backing with writing in pencil that is not discernible, stains and a hole toward the left, lower edge. With the damage menitoned above, the painting is in fair condition. The painting is recommended to be assessed and the glass removed by conservator of paintings and,or objects.
